WHAT EVERY WOMAN NEEDS

It is better to have old secondhand diamonds than none at all. - Mark Twain

Do you still have Scenario #1 – DAYTIME?  You may need some of those versatile pieces to get you to a dressy dinner party in style.

Invitation – Large seated dinner party in a sophisticated city (think New York, San Francisco, London). Since you now have at least one of everything on the Scenario # 1 list, we are all relieved that you at least have something appropriate to put on.  They may not be as dressy as you’d like, but you have things to wear.

But it is time to add some sparkle to the Scenario # 1 Daytime list before you go to this dinner party. Remember that you want pieces as bold in scale as your mind and body-type can handle. Stepping out of your comfort zone is a good idea as you have sworn off “upgrading”.

Scenario # 2 – DRESSY DINNER

Yellow gold & diamond bracelet / interesting versatile bracelet with diamonds.
Both bracelets shown below are wonderful and dressy on their own but they can also be worn in pairs for a bold statement. Owning a pair of either of the bracelets shown below has the added benefit that the pair can be connected to form a necklace.!! That is the kind of versatility that is a real bonus to your basics list. The yellow gold and diamond “Posh Necklace” (pictured further down) consists of 2 “Posh Bracelets” (shown here). The “Posh Bracelet” comes with a yellow gold link with hidden clasp mechanism that is interchangeable with an identical white gold diamond pavé link clasp purchased separately.

Dressy Cuff Bracelet. The cuffs shown here by Seaman Schepps are made of ebony wood and mammoth tusk ivory with hinges pavé set with diamonds.  An elegant cuff bracelet adds interest to your collection and is very chic worn singly or one on each arm. Some clients like the idea of one white and one black to wear together.
Dressy Earrings. If you have diamond hoop earrings with good size diamonds – not micropavé - you are completely ready to go.  Diamond studs would be great as long as you have a grown-up pair with a total weight of about 5.00cts or more. If you prefer clip earrings, then a pair of yellow gold and diamond earclips would be perfect. Or be adventurous and try dressy earrings of neutral black ebony or mammoth ivory.  If you only have plain yellow gold daytime earrings you might consider wearing nothing on your ears.  Wearing nothing is better than wearing the wrong thing.

Cocktail Ring.  This is where it really gets fun.  Nothing is more eye-catching that a really smashing cocktail ring.  Think big and bold but if this is your very first one, then you need to stay neutral.  If you already have that first neutral “go everywhere” ring, then go for some color.!!

Necklace.  Your strand of white South Sea round or baroque pearls are, of course, perfect.  However, if you are wearing them practically everywhere you go, it is time to add to your collection. Variety is the spice of life.
Ideally, a yellow gold and white diamond necklace is the versatile choice.  Any color with the exception of yellow stones (yellow diamonds, yellow sapphires or citrines) will limit the wearability of your perfect choice. Yellow stones “read” the same as yellow gold but dressier.
However, an exceptionally interesting or artistic yellow gold necklace could be perfect if it possesses real flare.  If it has no diamonds or other stones it has the benefit of being more versatile anyway. No matter what you choose, get a necklace that is the right scale for you and then make sure that it fits your neck perfectly. Otherwise, get it altered to fit you perfectly.  Make sure that it is bold enough and that you will not "out-grow" it.
